I always check "Remember this password" when entering the website, but this only lasts for a few hours and I need to go through the process again. How long is the "remember" function supposed to last?

And, this is a great forum. Thanks for all who keep it active

George

Remembering Passwords is usually a function of your machine writting Cookies to your hard drive. It sounds like you have a protection program erasing cookies when it runs, usually automatically when scheduled.

I agree with "Theberrys", it is a function of either your browser and what the security settings have been set at or your firewall and its settings.

Different browsers have different settings so you will need to look around under "options" or someplace else. I use only Mozilla Firefox, so I can only speak for that browser if that's what you use, I can help you out.

Regarding firewalls, there are so many of them out there it would be difficult to quote all of them so you will need to do some searching on your firewall for the answer.

Good Luck!

Hi George,

I'm sorry that you are experiencing difficulty. It should last until you clear your cookies.

This sounds like a cookie handling issue. Our site exchanges little bits of data called cookies with your computer to keep you logged in at page changes. Many virus protection programs or your computers own safety settings (if set very high) may be deleting these cookies when you navigate away from a page and then you get logged off. You can try the following things:

1. Set your system security settings to medium.
2. Be sure that you have enabled cookie handling.
3. Check you Virus protection software (especially Macaffee users) and be sure that cookie handling is not being blocked there - you can specifically allow cookie exchange with our site.
4. When you log into the forums be sure to check the "remember me" box in the login dialog box.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks Richard,

I'm using Mozilla Firefox, but with the (sometimes dreaded) Norton Internet Security. I will get onto this and set the security level to medium.

Thanks,
