Me too, Lindy - love the clean look of the new format. Plus a little change can be a good thing.

A little contrast behind the text might be helpful.

I like the 8:34AM CST version better than I did the 4:30AM CST version as far as visuals go.

One "bug" I've noticed (at least IMHO). If I click on a topic in the Recent Discussions box in the right column, it takes me to the first post on page 1. It used to take me to the first unread post, wherever that was, IIRC.

Rusty
It is a bit bright - and going to the 1st post vs. last post read is a pain.

The "Original" had a clean and polished look ... this reminds me of something a first year Basic language programmer would write. It has no depth or finished look. Very similar to changing windows to it's basic, but fastest look... not pleasing to the eye.

Who indicating font is small IS NOT READING.

I don't use IE on the MAC, so I use Firefox. Anyone using that browser has options. You can increase or decrease your reading window as previously indicated.

Hold down "Command" (Control in Windows FF) and tap the + key to make the font larger, and the minus key to make it smaller. Here is the smart thing. Firefox will remember the site preferences and the next time you bring up IRV2 using FF it will be at the larger font. If you clear your preferences when you clear your cache it will revert to the normal font.

===========================

That being said, ADMINSTRATORS - Most web forum software comes with a provision that allows users to configure their own viewing profile, like black background, white letters, etc. with each "frame" configurable by the user. It does not affect anyone else excpet the person that configures their own profile.

Is the software for IRV2 forum not sophisticated enough to allow that? There are many free PHP forum software programs that are. It would minimize the discontented users.

Happy trails.

p.s., I'm okay with whatever format you use. However, you could have used a softer whit background color instead of "bright white." At least now I can use it as a flash light when I'm going to the porcelain throne.

One more "bug" since it seems the Tech Admin guys are monitoring this thread.

In the Recent Discussions box in the right column, the font would change from Bold to Plain after I had clicked on a particular topic. It would go back to Bold if someone subsequently made a post. That would enable me to tell if there had been any subsequent posts after I last read the topic. That feature seems to have been lost, at least for this 5 minutes.

Rusty beat me to it and I was going to say the same thing. When an item is read typically the contract of the original subject will change, such as when 'google" searches are run and you click on one of their links. It makes it a lot easier looking at 50 items on a page to know you have read one.

I just started reading, so bear with me and even though I can flow with any change, there may be some constructive criticism that I'll post.

By the way, ya'll didn't make the 25 "Best Forum Web Page designs" list.

Also very important... The menu's, 'RV Forums', 'Owners Forums'. etc. are useless... they pop up UNDER the banner ad and much of it can't be used!

The red thread titles are hard to read on the white background, and it's hard for me to see the difference between the bold titles that I haven't read yet and the ones I have read.

When you quote someone else's post, their quote changes to italics, which is also very hard to read. I liked the shaded box that was previously used set off a quote much better.

I'm hoping I get used to the new look.
I'm with you Paz.

I don't like how the quotes aren't a different color. Tough to distinguish what is quote and post.

My preference is back to original. What was the purpose of doing this? It now looks too much like other sites. Bland!!!

Wow, I have only spent a few minutes scrolling down my selection of "New Posts," and I'm going to go blind. It reminds me of sitting in an eye doctor's office and that bright white light being shined into my eyes. That bright white background is irritating (to me). Especially on a 24" screen.

Most browsers, regardless of platform, can adjust the font and size of text in the 'Preferences' menu. It might be listed under 'Appearance' but for those of us who need longer arms, it's a way to gain control over text size.
