slow loading due to the personalized ads

There's been a bunch of threads on this, and (hoping I don't get any trouble from the mods... )

Here's the scoop as I currently understand it.

Google (and a great many other websites) put cookies on your computer that track what you do. They sell "PERSONALIZED ADVERTISING" based on what is in these cookies.

The big ad in IRV2, below the main menu, above the mission statement, is such an ad. Every page load, google peeks into your computer, and feeds you an ad they think might interest you, based on where you have gone and what you have seen in the past.

Of course, this all takes an enormous amount of time...

So here is how to make it go away in Explorer 9:

First, Microsoft decided to hide all the controls...
So pull down TOOLS on the right, select TOOLBARS, then MENU
Magically, the FILE EDIT VIEW FAVORITES TOOLS and HELP menus will appear across the top left of the window.

Pull down TOOLS there, select TRACKING PROTECTION
The only thing in there will be YOUR PERSONALIZED LIST, and it will be DISABLED
double click on it, or highlight it and select SETTINGS.
Select the button that says AUTOMATICALLY BLOCK in the top left.
Click OK
Back in the creen that says YOUR PERSONALIZED LIST, highlight YOUR PERSONALIZED LIST. In the lower right, are 3 buttons, SETTINGS, ENABLE, and CLOSE.
Click ENABLE, then CLOSE.

Reload IRV2, the ad in the center will be gone. This setting will speed up all sites that are targeting advertising based on a TRACKING COOKIE that they are saving on your computer without your knowledge or permission.
