Slow Loading of Pages

Lately I have found that pages in IRV2 are slow to download. Actually I don't think it is the IRV2 page content it looks like the Google Ads are taking a long time to download. It also looks like IRV2 has added a number of new spots for ads so this increases the download time. Is anyone else having problems getting pages downloaded?

I use Firefox with Add-Block Plus. I don't see any ads. Loads fast.

+1 Firefox and AdBlock+ takes care of the ads, and their inherant slow-loading.

+1 Very fast loading site for me, Linux Mint and Firefox. Also, AdBlock is great for limiting the ads. It really sounds like you have other problems.

From a "computer code" standpoint, IRV2 is well designed and as such loads quickly and efficiently. Suggested culprits are listed according to likely hood:

1-If you are wireless; is someone else riding on your signal? there is free software all over the 'net you can use to see if someone else is riding you, thus diluting your signal strength.
2-If you are using a "hotspot", some companies will restrict your bandwidth the closer you get to using your max for the month; sometimes as sloww as 256k
3-If you know your signal is secure and good; check your computer for spyware and adware. A very good program for this is "Superantispyware". They have a free version that is excellent.
4-How "maxed out" is your computer? A system can only run fast if it has the "room" (resources)
5-If you have Windows 7, run it in "classic" mode; I know it's not as pretty, but it responds much quicker in classic.
6-The two BEST antivirus programs.......Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast.......both of these are free, and Avast has the upper hand allowing a "boot time scan".

I am retired and repair computer software issues for a hobby; send me a PM if you have a question; this is NOT solicitation, it is a hobby that keeps my mind working since the last two strokes.

I'm in the same boat as itdave. None of the other forum sites I visit are slow, just this one. Every time I click on a topic, it starts to load the page, freezes for up to 8 seconds, then loads. I run several anti virus/spam ware programs. I'll have to try AdBlock.

I just loaded Ad-Block and what a difference! The pages load almost instantaneously.

Thanks for the suggestions all!

Ditto except substitute 15-30 seconds as the "freeze" time. Ad Block is no help.
It's so bad over the last few weeks that I'm reluctant to go to "less interesting" subjects and/or offer "help" as it takes so long.....
Like others, this is the only site I have problems with.

I was having the same problems so I switched to the Firefox browser and installed the Ad-Block add-on, world of difference! No more waiting for the ads to load that I didn't want to see anyway. The whole thing was a little creepy anyway, the ads that popped up were often for RV related items found through recent Google searches. No more.

Just downloaded ad-block as well. I've been having the ad loading problem for some time now. We'll see how well this download works. GOOD I hope!

I use explorer 9, and a few weeks ago, while reading a different thread with a similar topic, I found a setting that killed the google ads and vastly sped up page loads.
I'll work it backwards on my work pc today, see if I can recall what did it.
