It's not a Windows 8 problem as I've been running Windows 8 for months.

Do you see the Smilies?

If so, what happens when you click on one?

Yes the Smilies are to the right. When I put the cursor over it, nothing happenes. You can click on the smilies, but it does not do anything. If I click on [more] nothing happens either. The bottom "Post Icons" work fine in the title.

Never noticed it, since I normally do a simple smile by the colon-Right prens method let's see if it works

You are right, does not work in Firefox

(Also done from the keyboard) !)

Yes I do, and it is up to date. If I right click on the smilies and then drag and drop this is what I get below.

Yes I do but I also have script blocker installed, IRV2.com is as is Quantserve and Ajax.googleplexus (Not sure of spelling) When I allowed Double click, it worked.

NOTE, I do not care to allow double click

Widders 8.1 and Firefox 30

Member "wa8yxm" found it was a program he had installed on his computer that was causing his problem.

Could you have something similar installed?

I had this problem a few times, what I found was when you open the more menu and use it, in my Windows 8 it opens a new sub window that stays open until you post. If you hold your cursor over the Windows tool bar where your browser shows up you will see your irv2 page and the more menu. I've shut the more menu window and the emacons work again. This is mostly true if you are trying to use the more menu more than once in a post.

Clear as mud I'm sure, but best I could do.

Ah, you do not drag and drop the smilies.. You simply left click them and it auto-inserts the proper text at the cursor point.. I'm in the quck editor now so no smilies options but if you type : then ) you get a basic smile

If you type : then thumb then : You get

That is ColonThumbColon (no spaces) to get the thumbs symbol
I will run the lot below for you
: ) basic smile
: cool :
: D
: rolleyes :
: o
: sad :
; )
: confused :
: thumb :
: eek :
: blush :
: bow :
: angel :
: banghead : (man can I use this one a lot)
: dance :
: laugh :
: whistling :
: facepalm :
: blink :
: popcorn :

IN all cases save one (The wink) the : is a colon, only uses a semi colon

And of course deletes spaces

And I'm going to save a copy of this for my own use, Thanks for giveing me motive.

The problem is that some people use so many emoticons that the world supply is drying up. To avoid such a calamity, Microsoft has decided to act responsibly and limit every user to no more than 5 a month.

Trouble is Firefox and Chrome users have no such limits so they are still causing a shortage for the rest of the world.
