Thanking someone for the post?

There is not an option from the app. From a browser viewing the full site, lower right of the post.

I never use the app. In is missing too many features like classifieds. Dumb.

With laptop etc on the bottom portion of your post are several 'option' buttons
'Quote'----used when you want to include that post in your reply
'Multi+'---used when you want to include several posts in your reply
'Quick' ---drops you down to Quick Rely Box
THANKS---opens a pop-up box to send message to poster

As long as we're talking about the "Thanks" option on this forum, I'd like to say that implementing the standard "thanked by" message at the bottom of the post would be much more effective.

I've found many posts helpful and wanted to hit the "thanks" button, but I know it's going to send out that useless, canned response to the person that made the post.

I don't find them useful when I get them and I assume many other users feel the same. Actually, I find it to be an unnecessary way to clutter up my message box.

In my opinion, we all would be much better served if Admin would make that change.

No disrespect meant to those (if anyone) who likes the current system.

If one uses the Thanks button in the bottom right corner of a post, it doesn't clutter up any message box. It isn't a PM. Instead, it goes to & is displayed on your Control Panel main page.

Lori-

Plus...
No 'canned response'
You can write whatever you want in the reply box or noting at all

Lori, below is what I get (as a private message) each time someone thanks a post I make. If I get thanked 10 times, I get 10 new messages.

I would say they are choosing not to type a comment--it does say they are "optional".

Perhaps. But either way, the messages go to the private message section. This doesn't happen to you?

I'll thank your last post, tell me what happens, OK? TIA

EDIT: OK, I thanked your post.

That's because you checked the box to receive a PM each time someone Thanks your post. As you can see by the below screenshot of my page, I didn't check that box, so I don't get PM's when one of my posts is Thanked.

If you don't want your inbox cluttered, then uncheck that box.

Perfect! That squarely addressed the difference in perceptions. Now I must go check MY setting... hmmm.
