What internet service provider and equipment do you have? Are you on a wireless connection or a cable? If wireless, how far are you from your router? Are there other computers on your network - this can include devices such as DVR's, TV's, Dish or DirecTV etc.

Are you sure this never happens when browsing to other websites? Or do you just come here 95% of the time and assume it is irv2.com?
We're at a CG that has excellent WiFi signal strength at most sites, a full 5 bars, but it still happens.

You may be right, I do spend most of my time on IRV2!

This lets me squeeze every ounce of signal out of what's available. But I'll also move to a different space in a park to seek out the best signal.

So these sorts of errors, "THE CONNECTION WAS RESET", followed by "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" happen to me much less frequently. But, at a RV park where they resist installing and maintaining newer WiFi equipment to meet the demand, it still happens occasionally. And I move on to another park quickly when it does.

Just thinking that perhaps you might consider purchasing a newer high gain USB antenna for your computer to improve the situation? (If you now use an internal antenna in a laptop, that can be shut off so a USB type can be used).

PS I'm using a Panda Wireless 300 BPS USB stick antenna and a 2 meter extension cable that allows me to position the antenna for best reception.

I am using the internal antennas.

Even though your showing a strong signal, it does not mean its a signal that is consistent without interference.

Things such as microwaves, wireless phones and other users on the wireless network may be interfering with your signal.

A good external antenna run off your USB will be a good start. It would also be useful to future travels where there may be a poor signal.

Depending on the equipment you have and the CG, you may also be able to change to a preferred band of 5.2GHz. That may cut some interference such as microwaves or other users and works better through walls. Do you know if your on a wireless "n" network or "g"? Try the following:
  1. Right click on your wireless signal icon in right lower corner
  2. select Open Network and Sharing Center
  3. up on the left select change adapter settings
  4. Right click your wireless connection
  5. Select Properties
  6. Click configure
  7. Select Advanced Tab
  8. Look for an option of Preferred Band
  9. If this exists, change to prefer 5.2GHz band
  10. While here look for Transmit Power and change to Highest

I did that but didn't see anything about Transmit Power.

That's a different setting, if it does not help then change it back.

The setting your looking for will say "Preferred Band".

All were really doing is getting your card to want to connect to 5.2GHz as a priority.

Something like this external antenna can help plus this antenna

There are more extensive and powerful WiFi solutions out there that use rooftop antennas.

I found it and made the change! We'll see what happens! Thanks!

If you are with Time Warner I can tell you they play games with their DNS servers. If they have a problem or move the server address you either wait for your system to figure it out or use the command string in the above entries to force learning of the change. You need the DNS server to look up the address of every site you try to go to. ;-)

You don't have to use their DNS. Googles public DNS are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

There is also a tool from GRC that will find the best DNS for you.

Mike, it's still doing the connection reset thing, but it may have solved another problem!

I have been having trouble losing internet connection. I will still be connected to the WiFi but without internet connection. It does this a LOT, probably as much as the reset thing. Since I made the change you suggested it hasn't happened a single time! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Now, back to the other problem..........

I have to run for a while, but look at my last post on DNS. Then in my previous instructions when you get to the step that is "configure" skip that and look for a listing below that is something like "internet protocol version IPv4"(do not change IPv6). Double click that and change the DNS settings I listed above.

After that, you probably need a better antenna.

FWIW what happens if the park WiFi is overloaded. Say 110 users with 100 allocated IP addresses in the router? Given the number of devices looking for an IP address that seems like an issue in some places we have stayed. I'm thinking Ipad, Iphone and laptop for one user is not unusual all sitting their wanting their connection.
