Tracking cookies

Looks like the Irv2 people are allowing tracking cookies to be placed on our computers. I cleared the cookies, went to Irv2 for about 5 or 10 minutes, then ran "spyware", and it found 48 tracking cookies. When you sign on, look in the lower left corner of your screen, There are numerous "transferring" transactions going on. Do you approve of this ??? I don't/...

Doesn't matter where you go on the net, your going to find them, sometimes it's the advertisers; without them this site could not exist. Ever wonder how you get local ads in the side bars. Did any of the cookies , show up as anything but low risk ?
I run a temporary file clean up and quick scan every night before shut down.
JMHO; Spyware & internet security programs are the cost of being active on the net.

These cookies are just part of the internet experience. However, you can minimize a lot of their problems. I clean my cache everytime I shut down. In addition I run AVG antivirus software and RegCurePro which has done a great job of keeong my PC clean and running fast.
Good luck.

Most tracking cookies are benign, but most =not= all (or =/= if you like)

There are add-ons for Firefox. one of them used to be called "Do not track me"

I'm not concerned about site cookies. Most of them are beneficial anyway, like remembering me so I stay logged in or where I last browsed. I do use the "Do Not Track" feature of my browsers, though.

As Gary stated, tracking cookies are what keep you logged in as you go from page to page here. I'd rather have them than keep having to log in when I change pages.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Yup same here. If you didn't have the cookies nothing would work right

I've never been spammed by irv2 that I can tell. I'm not worried. I'll drop them if I do get spammed with ads etc.

It's amazing what people worry about.

Truthfully, I am more concerned about having my identity stolen or CC numbers stolen than a few cookies placed into a file while using the Internet.
