My Android app is back. It has been spotty over the last while. I feel for you guys with your issues. I have run and maintained boards for some time and these hacks tend to take some time to work out. I changed hosting companies a number of years ago and have had very few issues since. Reply here or message me for hosting recommendations.
All the best! You run a great board.

Problem is, it was communicated here, and we couldn't get here.
I appreciate the irv2 email I receive each year wishing me happy birthday. I know there are 1,000s of users, but an email about the situation would have nice.

Remember in the old days, when you dialed a phone number, and every once in a while you'd get a recording that told you "all circuits are busy, please try your call again later"? If a DDoS attack is like that, the message ain't getting through.

Hello...
Simpleton here... by no means am I an IT guru... but is there anything we can do to help?
I was reading about the "bot farm" and you also mentioned they could be using peoples computers without them knowing..
So, if someone could explain any procedures or practices that I can make to help.. please do.. I know, myself, and probably many others on this forum, would be willing to do whatever possible to help against these malicious attacks..
Thank you.. and while the past few days have been frustrating, I'm sure it pales in comparison to what you've been dealing with..
Thanks to the TECH team for keeping this site running as smoothly as it usually does !!

This is a good question but with a very complicated answer....
What can you do to help?
Affect global change. While there are laws in place about this sort of thing here and in many counties, they are not often used to prosecute. Finding the instigator is even harder and resources of agencies tasked with this are stretched to capacity. Generally websites like this one are left to fend for themselves.
Support our advertisers. We do the best we can with these intrusions, hiring outside resources and experts to help - this costs money. iRV2 is supported by advertising dollars and member contributions. Let advertisers know that you enjoy the site, click on the occasional ad, etc.
Practice cyber safety. Keep your devices and machines updated. Use the best virus and intrusion protection you can and don't let your own computer become part of the problem. Keep your passwords secure and make sure they are strong.
Be patient when inconvenienced. We don't like this any more than you do and are not ignoring these issues.

So nice to have the forum back in action again and the iOS app working!
Fingers crossed that this DDOS nonsense is behind us.

Well, I just got denied service again for a bit today.
So, this begs the question as to whether or not the "filter" service you are using thinks my computer is one of the bad guys. (I would think if they did not get two or three transmissions [packets] from me within a one second time period they would know that I am not flooding the system.)
If the denial of connection to the IRV2 server is an indicator that your service thinks my computer is one of the bad buys I will get some other software to check on my system (which comes up clean on the software I am using now).
Just wondering since the problem is not yet past us.

I haven't been denied but I was wondering myself today if I could unknowingly be a bad guy? Is there a way to tell?
