do I keep getting knocked out when writing a message? In the last 30 min. I've been in the middle of writing a reply and all of a sudden the whole message disappears and I can't recover it. Only thing is to start over!!
Very frustrating!!!!!!

The scenario that creates that for me is if I accidentally move my cursor outside the Message box & hit the Backspace key. *Poof* what I was typing is gone.

I have had that happen several times also... not sure what I did, but only seems to happen when I've typed a manuscript.... frustrating. I usually just give up since I dont want to spend all that time again.

I now "highlight" and "copy" periodically when typing a long comment to save what I have done. That way if I lose it I can "paste" and continue.

I do that, too, if I'm making a wordy post. It's saved me more than a few times, especially since I have a tendency to bump the mouse without realizing it, which sends the cursor off where it needs to be.

You should try my dumb technique. I have "Cool Preview" running and if the mouse goes outside the box, the box disappears. Yep! Frustrating is not the word I use.

I have on occasion, when I know it is going to be lengthy (should be all the time, right?) I'll use Notepad, or a text editor, even my email, but not send it. Copy, and paste into the forum box.

I've found the best way to eliminate that is to write all my post in OpenOffice Writer. When I'm done I just copy and paste the text into the post editor and I always have a copy of what I've written. That's probably why my posts are always in italics, the post editor translates Writer that way.

Its best to use a simple text editor to compose messages. For all Windows users, NOTEPAD is already on your computer under Programs / Accessories. It will not add any odd formatting (like italics) and you can then Cut and Paste the text into the iRV2 editor and add any formatting or icons.

Mr. D.,

Is there any chance that you are accidentally highlighting what you've typed (say, by hitting the touchpad on a portable computer) and when you type the next character (for instance, backspace or space) it's deleting what you write?

If you're using a PC (don't know what happens with a Mac), try pressing Ctrl-Z to undo. That may get your message back.

I'll use Microsoft Word to write most of my text.

I can't tell you how many of my posts were accidentally deleted by hitting the "backspace" key!

It happens but it's basically user error!

I sometimes have problems with this stupic box going into OVERLOAD when posting a reply.

When that happens I have a decision to make..

1: Forget it

2: COmpose reply in NOTEPAD, CTRL-A (Edit | Select all) CTRL-C (Copy) or CTRL-X (Cut) then open the reply editor and CTRL-V (paste) and post BEFORE the idiot box cn overload.

That they were part of Wordstar, and a few other Word Processors, YES.

That it was your favorite.. NO.

I still like keyboard shortcuts over mousing Though they don't always work anymore.
