Why do I get Chinese ads on this forum

I have yet to see anyone address this-so I just have to ask to find out if it is unique to me?

When I bounce around IRV2 forums, I occasionally have blocks of writing across the top, or sometimes on the side, that appear to be written in Chinese. I assume these are ads, but as I can't read them I don't know for sure. It seems to happen more and more often. I know the ads change depending on various things-but I can't for the life of me figure out why there would be Chinese language ads?

Anyone shed any light on this-or let me know if I am just special?

Yes, I get them also. I used the Google Translator one time and the results seemed to be a list of words. Some of the words were certainly not RV related.

You get ads (I don't know why some are Chinese) if you are not signed in. The ads appear in blocks at the top of the page or on the side as you describe.

You get ads whether you are signed in or not. I know you are able to shut some off-but I don't because I don't mind the ads. I'm just curious what could be the rationale of the Chinese language pieces.

Search engines capture the sites you visit. They place cookies and sometimes other unwanted items in your computer. When you fire up your browser it looks at the items it has placed on your computer and then in the search engines great wisdom knows you want the foreign ads.

Go in and clean out all of the cache, history, cookies, and anything else you can find in the "clear data section," of your browser. Just remember the passwords and site preferences will also disappear so know your passwords.

Try clearing, and see if that helps.

Happy trails.

A nice little utility that I've been using for years is WinPatrol. Informative, configurable, easy to use.

LOg in, in CP or control panel, turn off the right hand ad bar, run Fire Fox with Ad block plus...Either very few or no ads.

The Chinese adds are great. You get to know all the sites to see, all the places to get fuel that will actutally work in your rig and how to stay out of concentration camps! One part I see lacking is the price to transport your rig 10,000 mi at a reasonable price. No doubt they're working on that though.

I don't read these--because I can't read Chinese. I think that's why I find it so intriguing-I don't have a clue if I might want to buy what ever they are selling LOL

So far, I have come to a couple of conclusions from the responses I have gotten.

1. I am one a few very select individuals who are getting these ads on the forum

2. So far, no one has a clue as to why there would be Chinese language ads on the forum. I am assuming that some payment is made to someone by the companies who place the ads? Why would they pay to place ads on a forum that I would venture at least 99% of the participants would be unable to read? I hope a moderator or someone can solve the mystery. Or perhaps it should like the Marfa lights-just a mystery

LOL, I'm sure the steel building people are still stalking me. Their ads are always appearing on this site. I made the mistake of phoning to enquire about their product before we built our garage 6 years ago. I kept getting phone calls for 2 years after we built our garage to see if we were ready to buy a kit yet. I thought I had finally convinced them that we were done, but maybe they are still lurking!

Same deal here. Some type of software glitch. Happens on other sites as well.
