it was rumored that there was a wee software anomaly. avatars should typically be reinterpreted to SMALL size irregardless of actual picture size.
temporarily gave us all some interesting looks at some folk's avatars though.

Tom, is there any way you reduce the size of the avatar picture you just uploaded?

Even after your picture has been reduced by the forum software to fit into the avatar block to the left of your post it is still nearly 35,000 bytes. Most Member avatar pictures are under 5000 bytes.

That is what is causing the larger avatar picture to appear before the forum software is able to reduce it. As an additional bonus, reducing the pixels will allow the forum to load quicker.

Your computers software should be able to perform this function for you.
