Just being a little sarcastic of course......
If 2 + 2 = 5, then 2 + 2 = 4, is a truism.

Many do not realize that military communicators typically use all caps, even when writing with a stick (pencil). Every letter in the alphabet can be made with two strokes using all capital letters. All military "mills" (communications typewriters), have nothing but capital letters. The sending of communications via military teletype are typically all in capital letters even though the teletype machine may be capable of upper and lower case letters. All Morse code interecept typewriters are in capital letters, no lower case letters on the keyboard.

I am also not offended by all caps. I have a friend that is a retired Master Gunnery Sergeant and all of his emails are in capital letters. Habits are hard to break. Seajay was, and is, a naval communicator.

My first four years in the USMC was as a radio telegraph operator and all "mills" were capital letters only. All stick written messages were capital letters only. It took me a long, long time to break the habit and it was a force-able thing for me to accomplish. That is - I had to force myself. Habits can be broken, but sometimes not easily.

And if you think spelling is bad for some people, try reading your children's texting. You will need an interpreter.

Hey Steve,

I noticed that you listed an ETA of 2014 for full-timing (or should I have spelled it full timing?) Shouldn't that be an ETD --estimated time of departure? Or do you consider it your estimated time of arrival into the full, uh whatever, lifestyle?

Pardon me as I must unscrew my tongue from the inside of my cheek before proceeding.

Hey Barb. Was following your adventures in the Solo thread for a while. You made good time from TX to Fl. Hope all is well with you Lily, and Sena - wherever you are!!

Yep - I was thinking "arriving at retirement" with perfect execution. Retire 1 day and head out full time or full-time or fulltime the same day. Lol. I've been with the same company for 25.5 years so retirement has truly been the destination, work the journey and full time the reward.

Take care!!

Still in FL -- until the weather up north starts to behave a little better, or it gets too hot here. Full time is definently rewarding

Misspelling can be fun, an amusing little sideline. And if you are trying to be serious every misspelling takes attention away from your message and I assume the person is sloppy or ignorant.

However, in my first dictated letter, when I first had a secretary, I referred to a situation in the "maritime" trades. It came out in the letter "merry time" trades. That sounded much more fun, and I just left it as it was.

How about to, too, and two?
Do you all know the difference?
Just a thought.

Their r lotsa weighs 2 commune e gate.

But I agree, I prefer the correct way. But I certainly understand when others make misteaks since I do also.

Gotta admit, every time I come to loose or lose, I have to think ok, one "o" or two "o"s.
Taking someone else's advice I now know the proper spelling is "misplaced" or "not tight enough".
This is such a useful forum. I never expected it would solve my spelling issues.
Thanks, guys!
Irene

I spent too much time learning how to make too much money for me to spend. That left little time to learn how to spell. so I hired two girls to proof read. I retired at age 47 and no longer give two cents,,,

Someone posted a photo of a sign which was a spelling test. Fill in the proper word

Then or Than

I would rather surf the net ____ be eaten by wild animals.

(As best I recall the sign, Can't find it this morning due to all the "Improvements" Facebook has been making lately).
