Agreed, we all can read typonese, and understand "to" "two" "too" errors etc.

Problem is Search engines... can lose a good thread because someone had a question about their "breaks" instead of "brakes" or "Cummings" vs "Cummins."

Now back to the game...

Oh. No. I'm sorry but thanks for playing. like most threads the searchable word appears multiple times in numerous posts. Hence, a search of Cummins - Cummings and Cum will find this thread. Dollar amounts are doubled. Who's our next contestant.

And indeed the game has turned a coroner.

In my previous life, I remember trying to decipher credit applications submitted by, college graduates. I found that spelling errors were not due to lack of education, or character. Some folks just can't remember how to spell words they don't use frequently. Some people I love can't spell every word correctly.

I will tell you what spelling correctly gets you. It gets a kindergartener a referral into an advance class because not only did she spell a sentence all correctly, and not phonetically either, but she also used quotations around what someone said even thou she had not idea what they are nor why she did. All she knows is that is what you do when writing.

By the way this is our granddaughter. Her dad plays old text based pc games with her. She reads while he does the keyboard work. Also when she sits down to read a book they start a timer and for every 1 min of reading she gets 2 minutes of gaming or tv time. She decides how much she watches or plays by how much she reads. And by the way the type of books she is reading at age 6 are the Animorphs series or the Harry Potter series.

So yes, writing correctly and reading a lot can get you ahead.

PryateSilly - that is excellent. You should be very proud of son and GD! Thankfully I am a grown man and can afford a few typos on a social board - without being bored, board or gored for it. I think folks here pay attention to what they type but nobody's perfect. I have posted and edited spelling and grammar more times than it's worth. After all - whats the reward for perfect spelling. Seems all downside - as in tsk tsk - you misspelled - never a - wow perfect spelling. What movie would like to watch.

What if your pet peeve is people with pet peeves? What does that say about you? Are you an enigma, or a hypocrit? I've asked myself that very question, fearing the answer.

Ah, but many search engines (including this forum's) have the option of searching the whole body or (faster) just the subject line, which is repeated through the thread. Would not catch the correct spelling in responses.

Will take half-credit...I was almost m-bare-assed to be wrung!
