2 Pet Peeves with spelling..

1. Loose vs lose
You lose something. You don't loose it.

2. Cummins vs Cummings
There is no G in the name Cummins.

Ok I'm done ranting

Cliffitall, yes, if you unscrew something it becomes loose.. then perhaps you could lose it since it was loosened and unscrewed? :-)

I don't think Robert Cummings had a Cummins, but Clessie Cummins did, as it was his company.

This is just the beginning, from what I have read it does not make any difference in what order words are written as long as the first and last are in the proper order. If the teachers can't spell how do you expect them to teach spelling and penmanship is no longer part of the curriculum. Pehaps they should put down their picket signs and learn the job, our future and their students futures are in their hands.

Okay, you can now flame me.

So does this apply to scholarly writings and here. And if yes, does that mean what we read and type here scholarly? If my brain can comprehend what someone meant to type, I'm fine with it. I have read plenty in my life without a single spelling error that was both ludicrous and incompressible.

My thought is - get your point across any way you can - we'll work on spelling later.

Don't know about Robert Cummings, but Clessie Cummins lost his Cummins. As a matter of fact he lost the whole Cummins company when the BOD cut him loose.
