Ahh a non-stop vacation! Sounds like a man after my own heart!

One rule I used to have is that once we entered a national park, all books, TV, etc. were turned off so all eyes were focused on the beautiful scenery outside!

Drive safe!

I hope you have a chance to stop and see the sights at a few places.

Wow! We did a similar trip time wise and was able to enjoy most of Yellowstone. Since its your first trip, you'll learn some things around planning I'm sure.

Safe travels.

After negotiating Chicago traffic (!!!)...We spent a few quality hours at the Walmart in Lake Geneva WS...Now we are driving thru the WS and MN countryside heading for the Mall of America. No more freeways for a few days now....all back roads. Got 9.1 mpg for the first 270 miles...not too bad at 65 - 71 mph in traffic on the freeway?

With lunch breaks, fuel and other stops, you will do good to average 50 mph over the period of a day. Plan your days accordingly.

Thanks for the comments! We are taking our time and have made several stops. With three kids it pays to pull off every 1 1/2 to 2 hours to keep the kids from gettin to antsy...

Did the Mall of America today...tonight we are at the Town & Country Campground in Savage MN, abot 15 miles from the mall. Not a bad little park...

Tomorrow we head west towards Gettysburd SD for Bob's RV Park on the Missouri River...with a layover at the Bramble Park Zoo in Watertown SD about midday....

M/H is working out well...got 10.01 mpg today!

Happy trails!

Long time since an update....we have done Mt. Rushmore & Custer State Park in S. Dakota....then Cody WY where we caught the nightly rodeo (kids loved it!)...then over to Yellowstone for three days...now we are on our way south to Zion N.P. with a layover in Fillmore Utah. Been a great trip so far...awesome weather and the M/H has done well....averaging 9.8 MPG which is pretty good I think....some of the ups & downs between SD and Yellowstone were a bit scary (10k feet at the highest)...but made it thru! Nine days down 17 to go!

How was Custer State Park? Much wildlife at this time of year?

We were in Custer last week.

Buffalo (bison)
Pronghorns
Bighorn sheep
Coyote
Mule deer
Whitetail deer
Yellow bellied Marmont
Chipmunk
Prairie rattlesnake
Donkey
Prairedogs
16 different species of birds including a Golden Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk and turkey.

Other than that it was a pretty boring week.
