Something else that I do besides disconnecting the ignition key from the quick release key ring when the key goes into the ignition. When we stop for the night, or longer, the ignition key ring slips up over the antenna crank up knob. So that is where it hangs until we are ready to move again. It serves a purpose - remember to crank down the antenna. A little turn on the knob tells me if it is down or not, then we are ready to start the engine.
No! I have not ever forgotten to put the antenna down, yet!

I learned many years ago to duct tape spare keys to the frame of all my vehicles.

I got around the key issue by installing a lock box arrangement on the outside with a combo lock. This works for me since I travel on TDY many days of the month and allows for emergencies if Management from the CG needs to get into the MH. May not work for everyone but it sure works for me. (Not that I ever lock myself out of anything....yeah right!)

This has happened more than once to me.....not only in the RV but to the front door (and only door) to our condo.

I went out the door one day after my DW went to work (to keep me in the manner I am used to) I had the RV keys, but no truck or front door key. Now every set of keys I have has a house key, a key to my P/U, a key to the RV and for sure a key to my wife's Van!

One time we were in Lone Pine Ca. at a BLM campground. Had the RV running, glad I had my P/U keys had all of the doors locked except for the Drivers door and Passenger door until the dog put his foot on the automatic door lock switch.
You can bet that the air turned blue among other colors.

Be outside pumping fuel and hear the basement door locks and look up and two Poodles are smiling at ya. Stepped on the lock pad. Then they get excited and hit the store button on the HWH. Then the jacks come down and your camping out at your favorite Flying J truck fuel island. Little crappers did it in a rest area also. I've got spare keys all over now.
