Wednesday!

This Wednesday (3/6/13) is my "40 Days till retirement" day. DW and I went to HR last week and were told I have to give 30 days "at work" notice, plus two weeks and two days of accrued vacation makes my last day April 19th.

After 31 years and 5 months, I'm ready to go.

We got word from WIT that our spot opened up on the Alaska caravan. We leave June 1st.

Its been 2 1/2 years, the biggest thing is trying to remember what day of the week it is. Usually, its always FRIDAY !

Good luck

So ...

I turned in my retirement notice on Friday, 3/15, and Sunday night I'm in the hospital! No, my boss didn't punch me out or anything like that. I had a gall stone lodged in the bile duct and caused a severe acute pancreatitis.

That was two weeks ago. I came home last Wednesday after 10 days being tethered to an IV pump, weak and beaten. Whew! Heckuva way to start my retirement.

Hi

I hope your feeling better soon, I started
This thread with 40 days left and I've been retired
Now for 1 month. The weather here still sucks so there hasn't been any RV trips,. I'm doing a lot of nothing so far, there are things I should be doing but but but. I really have to think hard about what day of the week it is, I like weekdays better
Than weekends now as there are less people around, . And I've learned a new saying or expression or 4 words now,, I'll Do it Tomorrow.
Best of luck to you.

Dale M

"I'll do it tomorrow" is good. Better is "not today". You don't want to be promising any of this "tomorrow" stuff.

That was the one thing that for me, was the most difficult. Not trying to race through things to get done. It takes a while to Lear to pace yourself. There is Always tomorrow.

Retirement

Congratulations on retirement - May 1,2013 is my day to begin my second and last retirement - anxious to get to be out and about. Know I will miss coworkers but husband and I are looking forward to more and more traveling.

I walked away from the power plant for the very last time today. I am now officially retired!

Feeling pretty good, but I still have surgery ahead. The gallbladder has to come out. Scheduled for May 2nd, the doctor feels I'll be 100% in time to leave for Alaska as planned.
