Seems Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning which by German superstition (if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks) means we will have 6 more weeks of winter.

On the other hand, how can Punxsutawney Phil do anything else but see his shadow with all of those lights and camera's around.

Yeh, he looked scared to death. Also looked well fed with a nice shinny coat.

If he brings me 6 more weeks of winter, I am all for a bar-b-que with him as guest of honor!

If he didn't see his shadow winter would only last a month and a half.

i was talking to my daughter last night who seemed a little bummed by this. I told her, look at it this way.......the first day of spring is 3/20 so regardless of what ole phil does, ya got 7 more weeks to go anyway.

I live about 35 miles from Punxy but we're in FL until mid-April.

This morning I received this note and photo, from my buddy, via email.

"Yesterday was Groundhog Day, and Phil said six more weeks of Winter, then comes Spring."
*
"Here in Northwestern Pennsylvania we can tell that Spring is almost here because we can see the deer out wandering around once again."

-Tom

I doubt if you will be happy about that afterwards. I cannot imagine groundhog, even a well fed one tasting like chicken.
