A Little TEXAS Pride

Views of Texas
Aren't you proud to be a Texan that's living in Texas?
Watch the film - it's awesome.

From the videographer:

This is a video with fabulous music by the Dallas
based Vocal Majority (150+ voice men's chorus that has been winning Gold
Medals for 30 years). I took all the pictures and synced them with the video
where I could such as San Antonio , Houston , Dallas and Lukenbach. The
Bluebonnet pictures were taken north of Fredericksburg, Brenham (home of
Blue Bell ice cream), and Ennis. The flower pictures were taken at the
Dallas Arboretum. There are pictures from Ft. Worth (which apparently does
not have a song) taken at Billy Bob's (world's largest honky-tonk), the
Water Garden, some Western stores and the Stockyard. There are too many
cattle pictures, but I'll replace some of them in time with other places and
perhaps even some buffalo roaming. There is a picture of the Texas State
Capital in Austin and the Texas Tower at the University of Texas. All over
Texas there are beautiful County Courthouses. The two included are Hillsboro
and Denton County. Hope you enjoy the pictures. The picture quality is good
but had to be downgraded slightly for YouTube to accept. Turn the volume up
as the music is terrific! CLICK LINK BELOW.

And some more:

We can't all be born in Texas.

Ken

Born here but have done lots of corporate/military travel... In Texas if you see a flag on a pole it's bound to be a Texas flag. Any other state, it's a US flag

Hal, remember that there have been 6 flags flown over Texas and one was of a soverign country.

The Texas flag represents much more than a state.

Part of being a Texan is the attitude of TEXAS.

I've been to TX several times for work and absolutely loved it. Great food, great people and great scenery. Hope to take an RV trip there someday.

Texas is the ONLY state flag that can be flown side by side with the U.S. flag.

Mick, all the state flags can be flown aside the U.S. Flag, but the Texas Flag is the only one that can be flown at the same height as the U.S. Flag.

(I'm sure someone will maybe correct me on that)

Love Texas!

From the Texas State Statutes:

Sec. 3100.055. DISPLAY ON FLAGPOLE OR FLAGSTAFF WITH FLAG OF UNITED STATES. (a) If it is necessary for the state flag and the flag of the United States to be displayed on the same flagpole or flagstaff, the United States flag should be above the state flag.
(b) If the state flag and the flag of the United States are displayed on flagpoles or flagstaffs at the same location:
(1) the flags should be displayed on flagpoles or flagstaffs of the same height;

(2) the flags should be of approximately equal size;
(3) the flag of the United States should be, from the perspective of an observer, to the left of the state flag;
(4) the flag of the United States should be hoisted before the state flag is hoisted; and
(5) the state flag should be lowered before the flag of the United States is lowered.

Added by Acts 2001, 77th Leg., ch. 1420, Sec. 7.001, eff. Sept. 1, 2001.

A number of years back myself, my wife and my son vacationed in the DFW area and had a ball. My son is now a grown man and my wife and I spent our first winter as full timers in Texas this past winter and again, we loved being there. I am always looking forward to our next trip to Texas.

Even to a couple of New England Yankees like ourselves, Texas Pride was evident everywhere we went. It is one of the things that attract us to the state and one of the things that we discussed regularly while traveling through the state.
