AARP?

What do you use your AARP membership for? We are members now since taking it to get United health care medigap. Are there any ties to rv'ing?

I did the same. I already opted out of all AARP mailing lists. What, if any, benefit they are remains to be seen.

I have United Healthcare Part D AARP coverage without joining AARP. I haven't been an AARP member in more than 10 years.

Some CG will have discount if AARP. But you probably already have something else they will discount - Good Sam, AAA, FMCA, etc.

I have transferred all my autos, motor home and now my homeowners to the Hartfofd through AARP. Believe it or not, my auto was several hundred less than my previous insurance company even after adding the MH. I didn't save as much on the homeowners, but I did save a little.
My understanding is that you have to be an AARP member to sign up, but it is not required to renew.

I am also with United Healthcare. First of all, you DO NOT have to join AARP to get United Healthcare. AARP makes it appear that you do, but I was told by the representative this you do not. If you do not see any benifit in AARP, you can drop the membership in them. We opted to not join in the first place.

What United Healthcare sells under the AARP label are Medigap plans which are regulated by the federal government. I'm pretty sure it would be illegal to associate a membership requirement with any such insurance plans.

Dropped AARP when they decided government taking over healthcare was a good idea. Ten years ago?

I use my AARP membership to keep my garbage collector employed. Oh, and for The Hartford insurance thru AARP. LarryJB, I will have to check on dumping AARP, but want to keep the Hartford insurance. I made the mistake of letting Hartford sign me up for AARP when I changed to their insurance. That didn't allow me to "opt out" of all the mailings until later. That was too late. In that three days they must have sold my info to 10,000 companies! Since I opted out, the mailings have slowly been decreasing, but still get them . . . Almost as bad as VFW membership . . .

Like others, I can get the same discounts at campgrounds, etc through either AAA, Military, FMCA, Good Sam, etc, so carrying around a AARP membership card (do I even HAVE an AARP membership card?) is pointless.

I get more then my membership dues back by using Denny's 15% discount when traveling. A lot of the Flying J's/Pilot has one.

Outback Steakhouse 10%. And many more. I occasionally use the UPS discount.

AARP has a App that shows all places near your location with directions that can give you a discount.

I must be the odd man out here. All this junk mail I get really doesn't bother me. It just goes directly into the trash. I have many other things in my life that are more deserving of my irritation.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
