TRICARE For Life is a secondary payer to Medicare if you are disabled.

But I guess I would fall in the trap of "unintended consequences", seeing as the powers that be in the federal government don't give a rodent's rectum about anyone who wears a uniform, despite all the window dressing and photo ops.
Why are you paying for Tricare?? Your family gets ChampVA for FREE!!

How can you make it count next Nov when both sides are for it. We have nobody looking out for us anymore. Oh yea we have different military organizations trying to look out for us but their crys are falling on deaf ears and congress doesnt listen to them. We the military retired are a minority in this country and are powerless to claim what was rightly promised us when we signed those reenlistment contracts. If we would have broken our promises and went AWOL we would have gone to jail for years but congress can break any laws it sees fit too

After serving 8 yrs, 10mos, only one year in country, I feel I can say something. To donand max, your vote can make a difference. Try to go somewhere and not meet a vet. You have one of the biggest voting blocs in the country. Bigger than the eciu. Just no way of organizing for a bloc. What would make them stronger is the fact the vets would show up. Just MO.

To be eligible for CHAMPVA, you cannot be eligible for TRICARE/CHAMPUS and you must be in one of these categories:
  1. the spouse or child of a veteran who has been rated permanently and totally disabled for a service-connected disability by a VA regional office, or
  2. the surviving spouse or child of a veteran who died from a VA-rated service connected disability, or
  3. the surviving spouse or child of a veteran who was at the time death rated permanently and totally disabled from a service connected disability, or
  4. the surviving spouse or child of a military member who died in the line of duty, not due to misconduct (in most of these cases, these family members are eligible for TRICARE, not CHAMPVA).
