Do theaters let you take your own drinks and snacks in these days?

Only if you hide them in your wife's purse.
They even made me throw away a bottle of water...their sign said "No Outside Food or Drink".

No that violates their profit..er, health laws (More likely the former).

Oh and the movie I watched with wife at a discount movie house while my RV was being serviced back in 2006 RV, of course.

Today I have it on DVD

That song I linked to.. There still are dollar or dollar fifty movie houses (3rd run) out there... Some still show some good movies but Laughing Dead (Which I've seen) you won't.

Quality time with your young Grandson............is priceless
A time will come that you would spend 100 times that to spend those couple hours with him......

Went to last Spider-Man. Movie was good but hated all the trailers and commercials. I asked the managers if it's a set time they last. He said 14 minutes. I'll try not to step on anyone's toes when I come in 14 minutes late to the next one.

We are matineers also. Don't go to many movies, like most of you, I will wait til it comes out on BluRay. The last movie we saw was Avengers, Age of Ultron (my husband refuses to grow up!) and the cost of the popcorn and drinks exceeded the cost of our tickets. Its nuts!

Maybe someone that owns a theater can correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that the company that makes the movie (MGM, Sony Pictures, etc.) gets the gate and the movie theater only makes money on concessions, or something along those lines.

Well it's like this folks, its all individual perspective, and each of us individuals are unique.

We have similarities, but each of us are unique and one of a kind, so whats good for the goose sometimes isn't good for the gander.....

Oh my I sound like my dear Grandmother, God rest her soul!

I would shudder at 12.00 popcorn too, for a movie I didn't have a lot of interest in or were going for someone else.

BUT if it were a movie I'd been waiting to see for a long time, like the new Star Wars coming out the end of the year, I'd pay for it and enjoy the heck out of it, the anticipation is almost as much fun as seeing the movie if its a good one!

Excited!!! Takes me back to my youth real quick:

I've said for years now, I knew I was old when I caught myself complaining about the cost of bread, milk and now movie tickets. The other sure fire indicator is when with contemporaries a major topic of conversation is what medications we're on.
