I haven't been out to a movie , since Crocodile Dundee II, was released.
Tickets price had just gone to $7.50, 4 adults and snacks was over $80.
Because we hit the early show, we were out before 9 PM, so stopped at a rental store , where Dundee I, tape was on sale for $7.50
Now that the movies are on the TV within a year, I stay home do the $2 PPView thing, and have popcorn and a beer, and can pause for breaks, and more beer when necessary.

JMHO. You're not a tight wad...... either that ..or we both are.

Call me a tightwad, I don't care. There ain't NO WAY I'm gonna pay those prices! Maybe that's why I haven't been to a movie in 20 years!

LOL, your not a tightwad, you just have some common sense. Movies are so out of control, its crazy. Don't see how their business model can continue, its just not sustainable. We go to the movies with our kids maybe 2x/year, always matinee, and never buy popcorn or drinks. The worst part is, there is some really bad movies being made, and you have to really hate money to spend it on some of these bad movies.

We go frequently to the movies but can't remember the last time I visited the snack bar. We bring our own. I realize that would be difficult with Grandchildren , however the smile on their faces would be worth every penny ( dollar ) .IMO

Like many other things: Cost of K cups, Disney and other theme park admissions, fine dining, etc. Movies are approaching the maximum price point.

Much more than that amount a majority of people will say "It is not worth it." and not buy the product.

Personally, I have hit the price point on all the above. Bought a regular drip coffeemaker, Disney is out, fine dining is history.

Many movies I can watch the same day as release for $5.00 on Direct TV in the comfort of my own home and on my schedule. The ones I cannot get upon release, will be available in a few months. I'll wait.

It seems that everything is totally out of control, I just don't understand how a family can survive. The last time we paid to go to a movie was New Years Eve in 1982 and the movie was ET!

We do On Demand as well, snacks and jammies rule!!!

One of our businesses is a movie production company, we make sports docs, and I can tell you, I STILL will not pay the going prices for admission to a theater!

We took our three grandkids to the movies yesterday, we buy the extra large popcorn combo, and it came with a drink for $15, but you get free refills. So we just get the cardboard drink holders and then empty the first bucket of popcorn into one for each kid, and my wife. Then I go get my free refill and we are set, even had popcorn to take home. My wife brings drinks and other snacks for the kids, but you have to beat them at their own game, popcorn for 5 for $15, and a free drink. It's still a total ripoff. I'm with the watch it at home group and only go to the movies for the grandkids as they get a kick out of it.

The only place we go to the movies is an old restored downtown theater in Maumee Ohio. 5 dollars gets you in and includes a soda and a popcorn.

movies are cheap compared to college or pro sporting events..

The average family of 4 can barely afford it anymore. It's CRAZY !!!

Prices are nuts OK. Two popcorn and four drinks $33. Plus of course the price of admission.

Go to one of the Matenee times and don't visit the Snack Bar and bring your own bottle of water and enjoy the movie.
