Amazon.com Price Reduction
On November 25 I ordered a exhaust pipe hanger for my coach from Amazon.Com. It arrived in one day on November 26. Today, November 27 I noticed the price for the hanger had dropped $4.55 so I contacted Amazon and asked if they could issue a refund due to the price drop. They said "NO, we can not make adjustments if the price drops, even if it is within two days of the order." I objected and asked this issue to be sent up the line and I was refused indicating "everyone here will say the same thing". After I objected to the answer I told the person I would just return the item and then repurchase it at the lower price! The person I was chatting with indicated that was the only option I had.
This is crazy! When I purchased a refrigerator from Lowes and the price dropped $102 two weeks later they cheerfully refunded the difference. What has happened to Amazon? Are they just too large to care any longer?

Just a word of caution. Sending out back will cost you shipping which means you'll potentially pay more for the item. I wouldn't bother going through all the headache for $4.99

Assuming you've got Amazon Prime, just do a reorder the item at the lower price. Then open and use the one you've got now. When the reordered one arrives, do a return for the first one and just drop off the second one at UPS. It's free and UPS will do all the work for you.
Or just ignore the $5 because it's going to cost you that much in fuel and headache to return one of the items. How badly do you need 5 bucks?

Amazon stopped their price match refunds policy last Spring. I found out about this via a news report sometime last Summer. Seems they changed it but didn't put out a press release. It was only after buyers started complaining that they admitted it.

Amazon also keeps track of how many items you return, after a certain point, I have heard they can find ways to penalize you in the future.

Interesting  I guess that makes sense. I did return two items once when Amazon's computers sent me the same thing three times in a row! That was a long time ago, back when they were selling school books!

I had the same issue last week I was told to return the item and order at the 20$ cheaper price.

I'm not sure if they are doing it this year, but last year, the prices on some objects went up and down hourly as the rush of selling them changed. It was especially noticeable for coats and sweaters.
