The only difference is that Canadian vehicles don't have the option of running without lights.

It may not be the law in ALL states, haven’t checked, but drl is the law in many states.

I wonder if there is not a thread somewhere titled Canadians need to learn how to change lanes at toll plazas?
No disrespect intended to Canadian drivers.

If he had headlights on i would have seen the car sooner and detected his high rate of speed. If you are going to pass a big truck on the right in the dark with no headlights on just know that truck cant see you until you are on top of him.

It's not enforced because it is not the law in ANY STATE mandating continuous "daylight running lights". There are requirements for headlights on during low visibility which vary from 1000' down to 200', when wipers are in use or other very specific conditions but no state has any law requiring continuous daylight running lights.
The only reason vehicles sold in the USA have DRLs was to reduce the cost of maintaining two different production versions of the same make and model vehicles. To take this even further manufactures had to petition the federal government to allow the sale of vehicle to USA consumers with DRLs.
And if you happen to be wondering about the effectiveness of DLRs - https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api...ication/811029.
Myself, the F53 based coach has them and so does my Accord. Not worth the effort to disable or tamper with the circuit.

What America needs are government sponsored Public Service Announcements. The public needs to be educated about simple things.
"If it's dark, rainy or stormy please turn on your headlights and are daytime running lights."
"When merging onto a highway you must yield to oncoming traffic."
"When making a turn or changing lanes please use your directional signals."

Well I guess since we haven't figured out how it should be done someone should tell us.

My coach has DRL and it annoys me that I can't go into stealth mode when want to sneak up on you and your wife.
This is a typical Canadian solution on most of the problems bureaucracy solves. Fix one end but forget about the other. Headlights always on is cool but most don't remember to actually turn on their lights so the taillights are lit in dark or adverse conditions.

Well, my coach also has DRLs, Moose!
Most often when y’all and us-ins meet up, we are riding in the Wrangler in “stealth mode”. That’s why we always surprise youse! [emoji16]

You said it: they are oblivious!
That is why we now have to have all these warning labels on everyday items telling us not to do something obviously stupid and reminding us of obvious dangers - like "Hot coffee is HOT!"

Florida has these "Informational" LED signs all over the interstates and more are being installed daily. When no useful traffic information is needed they display info like:
"It's the law - slower traffic keep right"
and
"Raining - Wipers on, flashers off"
and the oblivious continue to ignore them.

Or I could rename this thread " drivers need to learn how to change lanes with night vision goggles."

Hmm I’d watch the documentary then revisit that comment.
