I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of 25 coal miners just today in West Virginia. God Bless all of those families and we all feel diminished because of this tragedy. Our local power plant here in Conway, NC is a coal fired plant.

25 dead in W.Va. mine blast, worst since 1984

We can only hope that a miracle will be announced today that the 4 missing miners have been found alive.

It is, indeed, a sad event. God Bless their families and all who toil in dangerous jobs every day so we can live in relative comfort.

The news is reporting that mine has been the subject of numerous safety violations.

Methane ventilation violations in particular, however, the investigators won't even comment on whether or not methane could be involved until they've investigated.

Please, just pray for the families and that the 4 remaining miners are still alive.

Sad day. My wife is from Man, WV. About 50 south of the mine site. Coal mining is a rough life. Prayers are with the families and friends.

Always very sad to hear of mining deaths. I was born in the area, about 60 miles from this current disaster. My grandfather was a miner. Prayers to the families.

Until they start prosecuting the companies officers for this it will continue to happen. They need to be prosecuted and sent to prison look at how many violations this one mine has had since the first of the year. It just blows my mind that this occurs and the news media does not continue to keep it on the front burner until the Government does something meaningful.
