One more thought, February of this year, 6 - 1/2 years to go to 59-1/2 (retirement) froze our pension = with factor =$200,000.00 not going into my pension fund for me,Health Care was $10.00 co-pay Select blue = now= $500.00 deductible,10% copay till it reaches $5,000.00 out of pocket annually , Raised retirement age from 59-1/2 to 62. I am very thankful for my job and am glad to be working and have a good job......but I still FAIL to understand or see where this action by the Billionaire that I work for has benefited me in any way? What I have typed here is just what happened to app. 3,000 people where we work, so now enlighten me as to who has profited from this type of action?
Admits record profits for the Refining Co.

Funny it is...The billionaire's and millionaires want tax breaks, some evading taxes very cleverly. They contribute large amounts of money to election campaigns so they can 'control' the politicians, and demand answers. They are usually opposed to unions, as they are often employers. Should you ask them if they did not have their wealth, would they prefer to work a union job for union wages including health care and 401 plans, or work a non-union job for minimum wage, their answer might be......

Not all wealth is 'earned'.
Just watched a travel show exhibiting multi-million dollar yachts rented to wealthy and royalty for a million dollars a week and more.

Others become wealthy because they keep what they have.
Walmart has revenue higher than the GDP of 169 countries, yet they cannot afford to provide health care for their employees. For those interested, who have more time:

All our citizens who don't work should starve to death?
Salvation Army be gone? Welfare be gone? Food banks be gone?
Really>?

Read through this entire thread and it won't take long to understand why we are in this perilous predicament. Read through it and you'll will see the divide that exists within our opinions and within our nation. Damn the poor, tax the rich, give me what others have, it's not my fault it's someone else's, don't touch my stuff, and, well, I think you get the point.

What seems to be missing is that middle ground, you know the one that used to exist in Washington. There are no simple answers to poverty, taxation, wealth redistribution or any of those questions. Wealth redistribution is exactly what the burglar does in the middle of the night or the drug dealer on the street corner or the crooked politician taking a bribe. Yet, we can't let those who can't take care of themselves perish. Maybe the solution is to raise taxes to some extent, but also separate those who can't work from those who WON'T work. There is a middle ground out there, but somehow it seems to escape us when there is a we and they in any discussion. Maybe it's time we started thinking about us instead of blaming "them" and trying to work together as a nation. It can work again, if we are willing to give it a try.

No, but they can work in some capacity for their meals. Picking up trash, administrative work keeping track of those picking up trash, and on, and on. There should not be a free lunch when there is SOMETHING that can be done in the form of work. They could be homeless (heaven forbid and bless those that are) and still work in some capacity for their meals, even if serving meals in a community center for those who work on the outside of the community center. The possibilities for employment for a meal is endless. The biggest problem is; those who want it all free.

Oops! I'm ranting again.
