And you thought gas was high where you are...

Gas station next to a Cracker Barrel we stopped at in Indiana last weekend.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

I would not be the least bit surprised that I find a place like that when I need gas on the way to Iowa, even less surprised if it's the only one open to boot.

We traveled through Canada on the way to and from Alaska over the last couple months. The highest price I saw for regular was $1.55 a liter. The lowest was $1.23 per liter. Kinda makes 3.65 a gallon sound cheap

We just did a 2 week trip from SoCal to MI. Premium gas ranged from $3.519 to $4.119 a gal. The most expensive was in NE not CA. Average for the trip was $3.75 a gal.

Thank your lucky stars you aren't touring the UK. It's about that price for a liter, running about $9/US gal at current exchange rate.

That may explain why the natives consider a Honda Civic 4-door to be a "large family car".
