Any Aviators Out There?
Does anyone take the time during your travels to get an instructor and "go up" near any of the areas that you visit? Got my private pilot ticket in 2011 at the age of 54. I fly mostly Cessna 172's (G-1000 and round dial) and have some time in 182 (G-1000) airplanes. I don't have an RV yet but when I travel around the country by car I always visit a local airport and a couple of times planned ahead and reserved an instructor and airplane to cruise around the local area. The DW went up with me during my PP training but since then she will indulge me but is not the least bit interested in flying with me.

Recreational. Piper Archer. Too many hobbies.
Have you seen OpenAirplane? Apparently one checkout and you're good...

I have an Arrow III and have had for four years now. Fly for pleasure and for business. Instrument rated. Got my certificate in 86.

I have seen OpenAirplane but I fly so infrequently these days it's worth the extra cost to me to go up with an instructor when I am in an unfamiliar area and feel a bit rusty. Thanks to all who replied and "safe skies".

I like to fly my Columbia 400 when I'm home in Arizona. In fact, aviation was one of the main reasons for moving to AZ! I use it to fly to client sites and for business mostly.

I am not an aviator and am not interested in it. I have never traveled very far in anything that sooner or later, I did not have to get out and push.

I fly a powered paraglider. It fits in the Toy Hauler. I know it is not general aviation and that you guys probably don't consider me an "Aviator", but I love it nonetheless

raineman,
If your feet are off the ground for more than a few seconds, you are an aviator. How long was the Wright Bros. first flight?
I just prefer something more substantial under my backside. I flew helicopters for 25 years, which I know some people will say is not substantial but I'm still here.

Built my own airplane. A Pulsar. I no longer have it but have considered what you are suggesting. My new home base is near a float plane school so I may ask for a demo ride this year.

Believe this question has been pretty well covered by the 250 responses located in "hobbies, passions & pastimes" section of iRV2
