38Chevy454... bummer about Speedweek, that is 2 years in a row for cancellation due to a flooded course. We stopped at the Salt Flats a year ago on the way back from CA and couldn't believe how much water was out there. Just a lake bed not a race course.

At least you had the treat of enjoying Moab, one of Earth's most Earthly delights.

Actually last year Aug 2013 Speedweek was not rained out. The Oct World Finals did have rain.

This year has been a bad one for dry weather on the salt flats, several events were cancelled or shortened as it has just kept consistent storms blowing through, raining and not had a chance to dry out good.

The salt flats were made by thousands of years of water draining down and then evaporating, leaving the minerals behind to make the salt. The salt flats flood each spring as normal, and most racing events are late summer and early fall.

But the beauty of the MH is we just made alternate plans and got to see some nice parks that we normally would not have. So disappointment on no racing, but nice alternate vacation.

Any of you classic car owners attending Cruisin' the Coast this year? If the pre-registration numbers are an indication it should be the largest one yet. We may go over for a few days depending on the weather.

Should add that in the past have had many great rides that are now collector cars, the Hemi Roadrunner was enjoyed about five yrs, but have had the 340 Dart for 20 yrs and more enjoyable, but the Hemi had to go after no more interest in it. The Dart is a rare barn find, paid $1,800 with 45,000 miles parked In a garage for 25 yrs after owner passed, no rust build sheet found under driver heel pad in new condition.

I'll have to figure out how to get pictures posted on here.

We have a 1969 Corvette, that has a 1971 LS-5 454 365HP engine in it. Candy brandywine, coupe, T-tops, and pretty decent shape. I'm cleaning the garage right now, for a little room, getting ready for some engine mods. I have a set of Brodix aluminum heads, a roller cam, lifters and rockers, Hooker Super Comp headers, FAST fuel injection, a GM Performance port matched intake, and will install a complete new exhaust when that's all done. Should be a little over 500HP when I'm done.
