I bought it from an ex-Detriot car exec who was friends with Enzo. He ordered the car directly from the factory and finished in Rosso Dino (orange/red) which was actually a Daytona color and never used on a Dino previously. Wonderful on the eyes and a joy to drive on the track and the street. I'm sure the 1500 was a blast to drive. I don't have any digital photos of the car so nothing to post.
Thanks! Yup - it's nice to have owned a significant piece of automotive history, but even nicer to know it will be forever preserved.

Wow! Quite the story about the Dino! Another unique story of auto lust! Always wanted to own a Ferrari...you're very fortunate!

Those were the good 'ole days Joe, when the average guy could buy some of the greats with mess-around money. Its unfortunate that many of the investors have turned the cars into trailer queens and taken a lot of the enthusiasts like me out of the market. Although, gotta say my Gen I Miata has a super high fun/$ factor.

While I can admire the beauty & effort making trailer queens, I never understood them. I see these things get driven all of a few feet at shows, then it's back in the trailer to keep it pristine. What's the fun of having one of these babies if ya can't take it for a good spin & then stop at a drive-in somewhere & get a coney & a Coke float where the carhop hangs the wire tray on the window (yes, there's still one of those in my hometown). I've even had mine out in the rain....it didn't melt.

I'll bet if those queens could talk they'd say "Come on, let me get my tires dirty!".

Hi Lori,

I drove my Speedster Carrera 1500RS all over the country, including in Alaska at -40F to take it to a car show. Know what the wind chill is at -40F and 60 MPH? I don't either, but was pretty danged cold, even with a helmet on and all the cold weather gear I could find. My Speedster didn't have a heater, and didn't have roll up windows, so I couldn't hang a tray on it. However, now that Dr Porsche has it, I'm guessing it's going to be a permanent "trailer queen".

Sweet. Dad used to have a 1949 MG-TC, a 1953 MG-TD, a 1955 MG-TF 1500 and several MG Magnettes. He also had a 1967 Jaguar Mk II, several Austin London cabs and a 1967 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. He eventually got rid of all of them. The only thing remaining is my 1954 MG-TF and a Magnette.

That is where we found the last one. It is taking the place of the 1961 7 we had to sell in 1978...needed the money back then, but we had a lot of our history with the lotus 7.
