Any Georgie Boy owners out there?

Hello,

I came to IRV1 forum just this past summer since my DH and I are looking for our first MH. I have looked a quite a few but can't find an Owner's Forum for Coachman. Is there another name for the manufacturer?

The reason I ask is because I like a few of the floor plans I have looked at and want to make sure this is a quality manufacturer. I think it would be worth it to pay a little extra for a better quality. We are buying used whatever brand we buy.

Have looked at Newmar because I heard that is a good brand and Monaco. Any feelings one way or the other about the Georgie Boy?

Thank you, Lynne

Georgie Boy is under our Forest River Owners section. Here's a link to some previous threads there.

Congratulations on becoming a new administrator and thank you for the answer. Have not bought yet but this site is a great resource for anyone who wants to learn prior to purchasing. I still have a ways to go, but feel like I will make a much better decision.

FWIW - it depends on what you want. The "high end" units are loaded with more complex systems that cost a lot to put in and can cost a lot when they fail. Some people can't live without the fanciest house on the block and some of us are happy if it is clean warm and dry inside. Coachmen comes in on the lower end, Georgieboy not quite so low the last time I looked. Then there are the different models with their features.

FWIW 2 for the folks that disagree with me I humbly suggest you read the problems posted with the high end units. I don't have half of them in our Fourwinds and did not have them in our Coachmen simply because the systems were not there to break. OTOH we enjoy what we have.

The most important thing in choosing a MH or any kind of recreation vehicle is that it suits what you like. For camping units it is usually the floorplan followed by execution. By that I mean that the best looking floorplan does not work if the hanging closets are short, the shower awkward, the bed problematic etc.

Thanks All,

I am looking mostly for a good base unit that is well built. I have read stories about people having chassis problems and want to avoid that. I do not want a fancy inside high end unit because this (to me) is camping still although more advanced.

I want it well built mostly. I like a few of the floor plans in the Georgie Boy Pursuit which is why I am asking about the (guts) of the MH. I don't see the need for 3 or 4 TVs and I don't care for leather furniture.

Just want something strong that I can ride all over this beautiful country to see it and be safe without breaking down all the time.

Thank you, Lynne
