Tonight the moon will be closest to earth. Called a super moon. Then on the 12th the meteor showers begin.[ Persiad??] Also, this month, august will have 5 Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays. We will not see that again in our lifetime.

I have a 14.5" Starmaster we travel with. I have it connected with my iPad so where the scope is pointed you see it on the screen. We will be heading out in a couple of weeks for a week under dark skies for some serious star gazing. Star parties are a great way to see the night skies and you don't even need to have a telescope.
