UPDATE- the test unit has worked great! It eliminated at least 90% of her back pain! We will be going to B'ham Monday to remove the test unit, then will have to wait about two weeks before implanting the permanent device. They have to wait that long to be sure there is no infection from the test probe wires sticking out of her back!

Glad this is working for your wife!
Severe back pain is very difficult to treat successfully. I pray the implanted unit will provide the promised relief.

So glad to hear this Joe!
I'm holding positive thoughts that this works and gets you headed toward that 1 year full time trial adventure. Looking forward to meeting you both.

Hi Joe and Annette,
Glad to hear that this worked for you. My wife has severe ( 11 out of 10 ) pain 24/7 because of a fall in 2008. She had a broken neck and a tiny spinal cord injury. We tried everything and I mean everything. She had that implant done several years ago, however unfortunately it didn't help her.
That procedure helps most people and be thankful that it helped Annette. I'll send you a PM with our phone # in case our experience would help her in any way.
Again, sooooo glad it helped.

Think you'll be able to keep up with her, once she's gone "bionic"?
It's so heartening to hear there is hope for those of us who are, ah, well, more seasoned.

Thanks everyone! She had the test stimulator removed yesterday in Birmingham, and today she is in misery! She is looking forward to getting the permanent unit installed next week!

Great news Joe - hopefully time will fly and the permanent unit will be in place before she knows it.
Really amazing what they can do these days. Looking forward to more good news.
