anyone ever trade down on a car?

I am considering trading in my 08 Charger Daytona on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler.
At retail(NADA values) my car is $14,750 worth more than the Jeep
Will this be a nightmare when i tell the deal what I want to do??

I traded down once. Never again. In my case it was because dw wanted a car instead of the truck she had been driving(baby on bd). Traded my f350cc for a car and took a several thousand dollar bath on the deal. But she was happy, so...
Good luck

I wouldn't say a nightmare, but you will, of course loose money. On the other hand, having what you want, when you want it, is priceless.

I've often thought that a 24 foot U-Haul would make a nice rig! I ended up using a 1967 MCI ex-greyhound myself. Both are better than a new stick and staple rig IMHO.

If you are trading with a dealer, you will loose money. The only way for you to remain reasonably intact is to sell your car and then buy the car you want.
Otherwise grab your backside and kiss a few thousand goodby.

They will probably trade wholesale to wholesale. Where people really get burned is when they are upside down and down side and they add back to the cheaper car.

Well to tell you the truth I worked a very good deal when i bough the car 35 months ago. the NADA is now $2500 Less than I paid for it back then. so no matter what it won't be the end of the world.

I found out the 2000 model is sold when i got there today. i will find one.
I noticed today why it was so clean underneath. it still had quick release tow bar brackets attached to the bumper.. And most you folks here know it was treated better because of it.
