Anyone From The Houston Area Here?

I have been watching continuing TV coverage from the storm areas.
I am sending out prayers and best wishes while you are suffering through the devastation of this terrible destruction.
Please stay safe.

Arrow Millions Desperate for Relief

Our hearts go out to all those millions of people in the Houston area up to a 200 mile circumference who are being impacted by Storm Harvey.
It was said that the phrase "Turn around and don't drown" is no longer effective. When you turn around, there still isn't anywhere to go.

Rated as Catastrophic, Harvey is presenting those southern Texas folks with a 500 year event. The worse part about this is that as of about an hour ago, it was reported that these folks are only 40% through this event. Some municipalities are expecting five feet of rain. That's absolutely crazy.

What I consider as having been bad last year with Hurricane Matthew, has turned out to be a walk in the park. Harvey may not begin moderating until Tuesday and then there will be the waiting for those flooded areas to drain and then there's the restoration of services. There are going to be thousands of people with nowhere to go and no resources to ease their suffering.

Katrina was devastating, Harvey has yet to close the book.

It didn't take long for the wolves to come out

On a news cast a short while ago the Texas Attorney General told of price gouging taking place in that area. Unbelievable IMO. A service station selling cases of bottled water for $99. Yes, ninety nine dollars. The AG has launched a vigorous investigation and will actively prosecute anyone getting caught doing these dastardly deeds.
Minimum fine could be $2500 for one offense. However if this occurred with a 65 or more year old person the fine automatically steps up to $250,000 per event.
I seriously hope all these price gougers get caught and prosecuted. The shame of people trying to make a fast buck.
Meanwhile I will write a check and drop it off at the local Red Cross office tomorrow morning on my way to work.

From Houston: Sold our place to full-time last year - hi and dry in CO. BUT well over half of our family and friends from Houston and surrounding towns have evacuated and their homes are flooded. Virtually every flood gauge I have looked at is above flood stage and most are already recording record levels. And more rain to come! I believe the economic impact of Harvey will eclipse anything on record.
