Are we paying for these part II

After reading all the replies on the original thread I thought it might be interesting to uncover some other areas of which I have always wondered "who is paying for this". Chime in with any you have uncovered or have questions about as I am sure this thread may become a real eye opener.
Here is the latest I found out just today. I was walking my dogs at the local high school down the road (very nice school almost new). I wondered since school is out and only one car was there if they turn off the air-conditioning during the summer months. Just then a administrator exited the building and I asked her that question. Her response was "no we leave it on all the time since several people work in the office M-F". I said do you have zoned heating and cooling so you can just cool the office area? She said "Not that I am aware of, the whole school is air conditioned 7 days a week even when the kids are not in session". When I left I thought and they wonder why they always need my money for levies. Maybe I am wrong and I may be missing something here but this does not make sense to me.
