It just seems to me that if the ATM company is concerned about your leaving your money or card in the machine that it would beep or buzz as a reminder before taking your money or card.

You would think so, but I never knew of one programed to do that. But then if they had to add something, they would have to charge more than they do now.

I haven't used an ATM in years. I get my cash at the grocery store or at Wally World. I rarely use cash anyway but some on me just in case.

I agree, I seldom go to the bank for cash, just get it back at grocery stores, drug stores, or a big box store.

This just proves that ATMs suck!

They cost too much to get access to my money.

I also hate credit cards.

But it is good to get the info out so others can avoid the frustration. That is why i like this forum.

A safe on board your MH? You must be kidding. I've never seen one mentioned. Is that true? Thats probably about as safe and carrying all your cash over the duel axles of rig in an envelope? Right?

Yep, lots of the high end MH's have them. I added one to ours in a well inside the MH. The latest Newmars have them standard or as an option.

Don't have much input on ATMs, other than I use them regularly then call myself names when I see the charges on the bank statements. We did go to Pinetop, AZ a few weeks ago for the first time. Extremely nice and perfect weather.

I know what you mean about the ATM fees. I thought the fees at the casino was reasonable at $2.00.

I very rarely use cash but I can't bring myself to use a credit card at a restaurant. I don't like the idea of my credit card leaving my sight.

Happened to me once too.. I contacted the bank (the host bank) and they checked it out, I think it was the next day the credit was posted.. no problem.

Thats why the screen says, "Please take your cash." You take the money and put your card away at the same time. Its not difficult. I've been using them since they came out and only had 1 problem and that was I forgot to retrieve my card. You make it sound like they are out to get you.

When you Full Time, a safe is somewhat fire proof to hold a lot of important papers. Like a birth certificate, Insurance info, spare Bank CC, checks, SSA card, Bank CD, vehicle titles, other info and cash needed if a hurricane comes through and knocks out all electric within 100-200 miles.

My Safe is keep inside a locked Fire Proof heavy duty file cabinet that would take over 2 people to carry out. If they could even get it loose from the floor in the first place.

And the cash in it is a lot easier to get too, then a envelope over the duel axles would be. Plus you stay a lot cleaner on the days it is raining.

Seems it's getting harder and harder to safeguard your money these days...there's ALWAYS someone out there with a plan.

Some banks are charging exorbitant fees for accessing YOUR money, but then there's the thieves that overlay an extra card reader over the real one and installing a fake pamphlet holder with a remote camera to capture the passwords...LINK

Even better...thieves are buying used and new ATMs on line and reprogramming them to only read and store card numbers and passwords, then only give an 'error' message in return. Placement in legitimate businesses and in public areas make it difficult to discern the real from the 'rip off' machines. There have been reports of people using these machines, getting the 'error' msg. and then trying other cards only to get the 'error' msg. Now the thieves have all or most of their card numbers and passwords. LINK

Personally, I only use ATMs in businesses I trust and I try to stay away from 'stand alone' ATMs and stick with the 'built in' ones. I also pull on the slot cover to see if it's real...people must think I'm nuts. I've done this ever since the gas pump scam where the thieves overlay a card reader over the pump reader (usually on an 'out of sight' pump from the station attendant) and sit off site with binoculars to get your password. Be careful out there! Bob
