Sorry, I just can't agree with you on this one. Property taxes in Oklahoma are some of the lowest in the nation. Yes groceries are taxed, but, us old folks don't eat that much. No youg'uns to feed. Property values are dirt cheap. New houses can be built for $75 per sq foot, including the land and if your real lucky every few years, a tornado gives you a new house, just kidding. The first 10K of our military retirement is tax free and although our gross seems to hover about 50K, we never seem to pay much to Oklahoma. Propery taxes on a 2,400 sq ft stick house in a nice neighborhood is less then 2 grand each year. State Farm Insurance, same house less than $1,500 per year. Last year the tax and tag on a new motorhome was $3,600 mostly 3.25% excise tax paid one timeon a sale price of 91K. Renewal this year will be less than $100 bucks. No free lunch where ever you go. Oklahoma is no Taxachusetts.
