Awning position during indoor winter storage

Will be storing the RV in a uninsulated, unheated pole barn for 5-6 months this winter. Will keep the slides in, but a friend recommended extending the awning to prevent mold/moisture build up. Awning appears to be dry, should I extend it for the winter?

Welcome to the forum.

It shouldn't hurt anything to have it extended but it will probably collect dust, dirt, bird poop, etc.

If the awning is dry with no moisture, it should be ok not to extend it.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

If it's totally dry when you store it I don't see that it would be a problem. JMHO

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I have similar storage and keep mine in, no point in extending them.

X2 I only put ours out when we need it. Never had a mold issue. But I don't store it with moisture in it.

If you’re concerned, I’d say extend it for a couple of days just to let it air out and for peace of mind, then retract it. You’ll be fine

Nope, mine is always stored retracted. Mold cannot grow on a dry surface, unless your barn leaks or storms blow water on it mold will not be an issue.
