Now here's one for your. I read in the Yuma Sun today that the State of AZ is increasing the min. wage based on the same CPI the Federal Gov't used to deny raises to those on Social Security and Militay Retirees. Here's the article.

PHOENIX - The minimum wage in Arizona will go up by a dime with the new year, to $7.35 an hour.

The new state minimum will be 10 cents higher than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that workers who receive tips also will get a 10-cent-an-hour increase, from the current $4.25 to $4.35.

Arizona voters created a state minimum wage in 2006.

It initially was set at $6.75 per hour, with a provision for possible cost-of-living-increases to the minimum wage starting in 2008.

The Industrial Commission of Arizona is responsible for setting and enforcing the state minimum wage.

It calculates cost-of-living increases based on increases to the federal Consumer Price Index, which measures the average price for goods and services in the nation.

Here is my opinion : The CPI is junk. Being on a fixed income, I've noticed multiple price ncreases on everyday items including, but not limited to, Groceries, gas, home insurance, car insurance, health insurance. I wish the politicians would really have to live on the same amount of income I get every month. I guess i'm lucky because I receive SSA and a pension from work as well as my DW. However, there are still times when we have to make choices between our medcations and groceries. I'm not even going to talk about the 45 cent per gallon increase in gas this last month. JMHO.
