Heard this from a fellow full-timer the other day:

New neighbors backing into a site is like another couple making love - one shouldn't watch, nor offer to help!

Y'all have a great day!

When I'm backing in I try to remember this:

when I was 20 I worried about what people said about me
when I was 40 I didn't care what people said about me
when I was 60 I found out people weren't talking about me anyway

Now I just back in my way - SLOWLY - and other people can do whatever they want!

Watching someone else back onto a lot is often the best entertainment of the day.

You're absolutely right about the 'entertainment of the day'. At times I've enjoyed the entertainment, and at times I've BEEN the entertainment. Every day is an adventure.

When a friend of mine brought his new boat to the docks for the first time he was faced with a current and a cross wind, and un-noticed by him, as he started to back it in his port engine died. About a half dozen of us were there to greet him and we applauded and cheered as he bounced from one pillar to another. He later told me that having that audience made it the worst day of his life.

Yep, you on the roof and she's removing the ladder.

Had an incident in my park where a guy backed into a tree, a neighbor waved him back, and he wanted the park to pay for damages. We didn't.

This thread brings back a lot of memories.

I first started backing with a 36 foot TT using a 1 ton, then a goosneck, then a 5'er, and now a MH. So many times sitting at a campsite watching someone I just want to get up and ask if they would like for me to back it in for them. BUT, hold my tongue, sit there, smile, and remember when.

Now for my story: With the 5'er, we had the same storage area that we have today. Standing outside looking in there is a support beam on the left (right as backing) and another MH on the right (left as backing). For 1 year I backed the 40' 5'er into that spot using my F350 King Ranch, LB, Dually with absolutely no problems. 1st time, every time.

We knew we were changing our life style and going to a motor-home. On the last trip in the 5'er, I pulled into the storage yard, and maneuvered into position to back up. I cannot tell you how may times I maneuvered into position to try backing up again. DW is my ground guide, but no matter what I did, or what she said to do, I could NOT get lined up. It was like watching a monkey trying to ......well a football. I finally go out of the F350, walked around a couple times, asked DW to come to a spot I had selected, told her that I wanted the rear wheel of the 5'er "RIGHT THERE." I backed in with no problem at all that time. So, for the monkey, position is everything.

Oh! There were two gentlemen with their boat watching the whole time, and in fact one of them, when I got out the last time, asked if I needed help backing it in. As politely as I could, I said, "No!" I may have exclaimed something about the monkey, also.
