Bear Attack!

An interesting lesson about why you should always keep your campsite clean.

Look what happened to this Samsung crew on a photoshoot for the EcoBubble washing machine. They were near Manning Park, BC.

You got me!

I opened it because it reminded me of an incident in a previous life when I did NOT keep my campsite clean while camping at Crater Lake, Oregon.

After a night of drinking wine and playing cards, DW and I figured we'd clean up our mess in the morning and crawled in the back of our SUV to sleep. It was our first trip to Crater Lake and I had no idea the elevation was so high... but, considering the wine I'm not sure it would have mattered.

Our dog woke us up growling in the wee hours and my flashlight shone on a black bear sitting in the middle of our picnic table eating everything we had. It turns out that just yelling at these guys has no effect. After ripping the top off of a metal Coleman cooler and devouring everything inside... he casually made his way through the forest and down a ravine.

I'll never make that mistake again.

Rick
