Love the Pale Ales and IPA's. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was the first that I fell in love with! Dogfish Head 60,90 and 120 are great beers too! Bit the 120 is pricey at $15+ per 12 oz bottle. We have a new brewery in my neighborhood that has a IPA called Red Clay!! Yummy!!!!

Not a huge fan of IPA's but a lighter Pale is good. I love a lot of the Canadien brews and the newer wheat brews like Blue Moon and Shock Top. Micro Brews are always a good choice, just not a fan of the darker brews either.

$15.00 for 1 Dogfish Head, wow, that is what I spend for a suitcase, 24 bottles, of High Life. Guess I will have to stay with the cheap stuff.

The bay frige/freezer always contains at least 2 12packs.
Went thru a dry spell in areas of Texas & NM so this winter we will major stock up before leaving home.

The Pumking I qouted earlier is about $8.99 for a 20oz. But to me and the misses it's a once a year treat. We normally drink $20.00 a case beer and some harder libations. I have a beautiful full bottle of 2012 Holiday Season Jack Daniels that's dying for some ice. My everyday beer of choice is Moslon Ice and hers is Yuengling Light. So it's not too bad priced.

When I travel to Philly all ya need ask for is a Lager. When in Rome that's what I ask for. Interesting note - last time there the hotel bar was running a special - $2.00 Shiners. Well ya know as a Texan I had to go for it. Wonder if it caught on up there?

The silkiest beer craze ever - no offense and IMHO - was the mid 70's Texas infatuation with Coors. People would drive to New Mexico or Colorado to get it. I would not cross the street for it.

I'm a confirmed hophead. Almost any IPA will do. I usually get the Sam Adams Latitude 48 based more on availability than on taste.

For those of you driving the Beartooth highway into the north east entrance of Yellowstone, check out the very extensive beer list at the Cooke City Cafe. They have micro brews from around the country.

That looks like a MoreBeer 20 gallon brewery like mine except I didn't go for the SS sculpture. I also only have one lonely 12 gallon conical but do have seven glass carboys to somewhat make up. Just finished off a keg of New Belgium Fat Tire clone. Wasn't bad. Now I'm onto a pale ale I just made up on the fly.

For commercial beers my favorites are:
Gulden Draak $13.99 for a 750ml around here
Ommegang Abbey Ale or most anything from Ommegang
La Fin Du Monde from Unibroue cause it's the end of the world
Stone Ruination and Arrogant Bastard. Ruination is the best American IPA there is IMHO

I like Belgian, English and Irish beers. Sometimes when you are traveling good beers aren't so easy to find and I can only bring so much homebrew.

There is another WNY beer that is a seasonal unique brew. That is Ellicottville Blueberry. It's kind of, well, sort of, well, sort of different. My wife tried two that she absolutely loves. An Italian brew called Pironi and one from Seattle called Loose Cannon.

As a side note, we used to have a brewery in Buffalo that made a holiday brew called Old Frothing Slosh. They marketed it as a brew "so light the head is on the bottom." That was true because they would print the label upside down and when you turned it over to read the label the head was on the bottom. Needless to say, they are out of business.

There's an Ellicottville Brewery in Fredonia right next to one of my favorite food joints. I'll have to go in next time we're in town (Bills game on Sept 29th) and check it out. I know Dunkirk used to have Koch's Brewery and they made this Dark Horse Ale and Lager that was great. I don't know whatever happened to them. This was back in the '70-80's when I was a youngin'. Ah the good ole days. Young drunk and stupid. Not necessarily in that order.

Flagship1, I agree, the Coors craze in the 70s was a strange thing. When I finally tasted one it was terrible, IMHO. Lots of my friends were so caught up in the hype they thought it was good.
