Being ripped off

This has been going on for some time but now it is getting ridicules.

Has anyone noticed how the bar of soap has shrunk in size? It has been shrinking for awhile but now the middle is almost completely gone

A long time ago Orville Redenbacher popcorn started reducing the quanity in the bag and increasing the price.

Scott toilet tissue still maintains they have a 1000 sheet roll, but have you noticed how the size of each sheet has shrank in size?

I'm sure you can add a lot more to these three as industries find more and more ways to rip us off

Keep this reduced packaging in mind when you are using older recipes. If the recipe calls for a 16 ounce can of something, it is probably now only 15 ounces or less. I think even egg grading is different than it used to be. Large eggs are the size of the old medium eggs.

Have you noticed that 1/2 Gallon of ice cream has now gone to 1.5 Quarts?
They cannot even advertise it by description ( Half Gallon of ice cream on sale ) anymore they simply say "Ice Cream".
I suppose a case could be made: New reduced Calorie and Fat size We have reduced the size to keep you Healthier.

I try to buy ice cream at Costco. They still have 1/2 gal. It's the principle.

Ah! I have been successful in letting my wife stress out over those things. I guess I need to start paying attention to the bank account in relationship to the food I eat.

It's just that we all tend to be really ignorant consumers. The reality is that every year or so the products that you like are going to have to go up in price. However, if you go to the store and your bar of soap used to cost .99 and now it costs 1.09 you may go buy another cheaper brand to save that dime (even if it's not as good). In response, the manufacturers have found that it's easier to keep the price the same and reduce the size offered. The price still goes up but the consumer "feels" better because they can still buy their favorite bar of soap for .99.

Tell me about it. I work in a large food warehouse (1,000,000 sq. ft.) I have noticed over the last year or so just about every product line being reduced in package size. Soup used to be either a 15 or 16oz. size years ago. Now it is 10.5 or 11oz. All salad dressing was either 8 or 16oz size. Now Kraft just went to a 14oz. size within the last 2 months. Soon we will be buying thimble size mini cans of soup. Canned veggie's were all 16oz., now their sneaking down to the 14-15 size. Lets talk coffee, what used to be a 16oz can is now 10.5oz. for flavors or 11oz. for regular brew. I receive product off of semi's all night, so it's my job to check as to the right product coming in.

I few years back Dannon Yogurt went from 8oz to 6oz. for the same price. I stopped buying it and switched to Breyer's, now they also reduced to 6oz.

Large bags of dog food were always 20lbs. for name brands and the house brands were 25lbs. Now the name brands run anywhere from 14-17lbs.
