Might be my age or where I was raised but for country ballads I'd say Eddy Arnold & Jim Reeves & Patsy Cline for the female side. I like many of the others mentioned but I prefer the 40's & 50's & early 60's (Tennessee Stud, Cattle Call, El Paso, Streets of Laredo, Make the World go away, I sending you a big bouquet of roses, crazy, I fall to pieces, just to mention a few). These are performers where they get up there and sing without the large band and electronic instruments). That said don't trust what I say cause I play a banjo and I know that makes me weird!

I grew up in central Texas, no TV and a radio for entertainment. I remember the Grand Ol'Opry and the Louisiana Hay Ride and all of the big names. Do you remember Bob Wills and the Light Crust Doughboys.....

We listened to Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger and The Green Hornet...
Am I really that old.
