My smoker found a new home yesterday. No room for it in our coach and we are about to go full time. What little we are keeping that is not going in the coach has to be hauled 1800 miles to our ranch in OK.

We hugged and parted ways and as she rolled away and out of sight a small tear rolled down my cheek. Then a big grin crossed my face as I thought about the new one I will build on the ranch.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your BBQ joints, we will be sure to try as many as possible. If you posted the best is on your grill we hope to run into you in our travels. Make sure you have some burnt ends for us.

Parting ways is such sweet, smoky sorrow.

I live in the Memphis area and would agree that Rendezvous is a "must go". I prefer Central BBQ and Memphis BBQ in Southaven, MS (just a few miles South of Memphis).

You can count on it. Have to make a smaller one that I can somehow take on the road. Even if it can only do 2 racks of ribs at a time.

If you are ever in Donna Texas Willie's barbq can't be beat. There is no RV parking and some times hard to find a car parking spot but it is worth the trouble

A few weeks ago we left Austin, TX after spending 7 weeks there. Here is the line up of the BBQ joints we visited. Some we ate at more than once.

Franklin's
Rudys
Blacks
Snows
Smitys
Kruez
Salt Lick

Not too shaby a selection. Our absolute favorite BBQ thing we ate was Black's (in Lockhart) giant beef rib, omg, you just can not believe this thing. Everything else was excellent and would be happy to go back to any of them.

For an amazing side note we ate at Gus's Famous fried chicken. They set a new standard of excellence in fried chicken.

We will be back in Austin in late September for one month. I plan to hit most of those places again!!!

Stuart, when next in Austin, you need to try Louie Mueller in Taylor. My favorite, along with Black's in Lockhart.

Yes I agree. But it is not easy to find. Must have spent 45min in the area (at night) and using my GPS. Had to call the place for directions. LOL

I hope you tried Salt Lick in Driftwood, TX and not one of it's satellite restauraunts around Austin. Also need to try Opie's in Spicewood, and Cooper's in Llano. I have become very fond of one just around the corner from me on Hwy 71W, about 1 mi before the Pedernales River, called "It's All Good".
