This is pretty much common knowledge, but we need to beware/beaware while in the national parks, state parks, or any public land. While reading a magazine I subscribe to they were talking about the drug problems, etc on the public lands, while camping, hiking, hunting, etc. Not only is it drug usage, but drug sales, production (meth labs), and other illeagl activities. Plus along the border states there is the problem of illegals crossing the border, the gang activity, drug smuggling, etc. They had a link to a report from the Government Accountability Office, and if you can get past all the double talk, etc it was pretty interesting.

There are a few things to consider: Public land is just that PUBLIC, and the Public consists of folks to whom the 100,000 price tag (rounded) on say a Damon Intruder, is "Walking around money" it also includes folks to whom 100K is "More than I will see in my life" and of course some folks see that "Rich man's palace" and think "I want some of what he got and I don't care how I get it"
So these types are all public... Now I will adimt the company I used to work for (Retired from) considered that last group "Product" but hey.. We specialized in finding them transportation and lodging,,, often for an extended period of time (Say 5-10 years). We were (And they still are) good at it too.. I mean we help people sleep better. You can sleep better knowing we tossed Mr. Felon in the slammer, and Mr. Felon can sleep secure in the knowledge that "The Man" is not going to toss his sorry behind in jail... (Of course how well he can sleep on the jail bed I don't know, but that is NOT my problem)
Then you have private parks.. The park I'm in right now the fence is about what 18" high.. I can step over it. So not much different then open non-fenced public land.
Finally I've been in parks with good strong and tall fences,, Just like the parking lot where I used to work,, and security guards (Hey, the lot Where I worked had the State Police in it.) and still cars got broken into.
(I do admit, thanks to me the crook was caught, but hey... Here is what happened... They decided they needed to put a camera on the lot... but how to do it? I asked the MDOT (Mi. Dept of Transportation) Technicians if they had a test circuit for the freeway cameras, so they could bench test them on the system.. Turns out camera 000 was in fact the bench.. So they hooked up camera 000 and aimed it at the parking lot. WIth eyes on.. the Sgt was able to make it to the lot in time to capture.

What really hurts is; this is directly influenced by us voters and our responsibilities. Please no political comments.

The problem is...this nation is being run by the media!! Lawmakers and officials are so spineless, they allow the media to make their decisions for them.

Huh? How does being liberal have anything to do with Japan. I must of missed that month's magazine.
Speaking of Japan...did you hear? No riots, no looting, etc when the power went off. Hell if the Lakers play in the NBA finals...win or lose, a cop car is getting burned.
Something wrong with this picture.
