Big Tex is down!

For those of us from Texas that spent a few of our Octobers visiting the annual fall fair. Big Tex of the State Fair of Texas fame was destroyed this afternoon in what appears to be an electrical short today. It was his 60th birthday. Indications are that he will be rebuilt in time for next years show.

Saw it on the news. Thought it was the "Burning Man" event at first.

He sure put up a nice big flume of black smoke! I was wondering what was burning seeing the smoke from near Big Town Blvd. in east Dallas/Mesquite to later hear it was Big Tex.

Wonder if the new and improved Big Tex will be able to move a bit more? Bend over, squat down or what not to to surprise the children and all!

Gotta love the Dallas FD sense of humor. "Howdy folks, it's hot!"
